Changes in visitor desires and habits, technology, and even interpretation are driving efforts to redefine the national park visitor center for the 21st century.

Yo-Yo Ma, the world-famous cellist who has been performing "pop up" concerts in the National Park System, will appear in Kentucky at Mammoth Cave National Park in April to perform with the Louisville Orchestra.

New River Gorge National Park and Preserve in West Virginia has added 45 acres of land to the area designated as a preserve. The tract is located on Beury Mountain just east of the Thurmond area and will provide easier access to lands that are already in the national preserve.

For the second time in less than three weeks a dead humpback whale has washed ashore in the National Park System, this time at Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland.
