Celebrate Independence Day next month the old-fashioned way, at Bent's Fort National Historic Site in Colorado.

After more than a year of renovations, the Walker Sisters Cabin in Great Smoky Mountains National Park has reopened to the public.

Rising water levels have allowed the main boat ramp at the Bullfrog Marina on Lake Powell in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area to open to all vessels. The Bullfrog North Ramp also remains open and available to all boaters. The Bullfrog Main Ramp Spur, adjacent to the eastern side of the main launch ramp, is available for vessels up to 25 feet in length.

With at least three recent reports of visitor encounters with black bears, the Blue Ridge Parkway staff is urging visitors to be cautious of the bruins.
