Woman Bitten By Rabies-Infected Bat At Death Valley National Park

A woman was bitten by a bat while trying to move it off a garbage can outside the gas station at Stovepipe Wells Village in Death Valley National Park on Friday, April 28. The bat has since tested positive for rabies. The woman has no symptoms and is undergoing treatment.

Six months after torrential rains spawned historic flash floods across parts of Death Valley National Park, the North Highway that leads to the Mesquite Springs Campground and the Ubehebe Crater in the park has reopened after some concerted reconstruction work.

Death Valley Park Rangers Rescue Hikers At Mosaic Canyon And Wildrose Peak On Same Day

National Park Service (NPS) staff were busy assisting hikers in two separate incidents on Sunday, February 5 at Death Valley National Park. Park rangers carried a woman with a broken leg out of Mosaic Canyon and located a man who had separated from his group on Wildrose Peak Trail.
