National Parks Well Represented On List Of Volcanoes Posing Highest Threats

Have you visited Hawai'i National Park and gotten close to the Kīlauea Volcano, enjoyed Paradise at Mount Rainier National Park, climbed to the top of Lassen Peak in its namesake park, or hiked down to Crater Lake? If so, you've placed yourself in the midst of some of the country's most dangerous volcanoes in terms of the threats they pose, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Washington’s National Park Fund to Celebrate 25th Anniversary With Musical And Visual Extravaganza At Benaroya Hall

In an event sure to delight outdoors enthusiasts, Benaroya Hall in Seattle will come alive October 24 at 7:30 p.m. with beautiful musical compositions by Northwest Symphony Orchestra coupled with lovely imagery from the National Park System. The spectacular performance, “National Parks at Benaroya,” celebrates the 25th anniversary of Washington’s National Park Fund, the official philanthropic partner for Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic national parks.

Heavy Visitation Expected Throughout The Summer At Mount Rainier National Park

With visitation already heavy, Mount Rainier National Park staff are predicting that it will continue throughout the summer and produce long wait times at entrance stations, heavy road traffic and congested parking lots. As a result, the park is encouraging visitors to come on weekdays and arrive in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid long waits at entrances and more easily find a parking spot. They're even suggesting stops outside the park.
