Sequoia Parks Conservancy, the official nonprofit partner to Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks, has received a $250,000 grant from The Dorrance Family Foundation for use in helping with recovery of endangered mountain yellow-legged frogs in the two parks.

Thanksgiving week brought a lot of snow to much of the country. I returned home to find 8-9 inches of the white stuff in the yard, and a decided chill (low teens) in the air. A study into the experiences of backpackers in Yellowstone National Park came away with the conclusion that almost all had a great experience. Most said they didn't think the park's backcountry was crowded, and they had no problem with the fees they had to pay.
