Instead of traveling for enjoyment and relaxation, he's working to help guide the Park Service's approach to climate change from outside the agency. He discusses the Institute for Parks, People, and Biodiversity that he launched at the University of California-Berkeley and its mission with National Parks Traveler. 

Hike Four Miles Of The Juan Bautista De Anza National Historic Trail

Juan Bautista de Anza was a determined Spaniard who was tasked with creating the first non-Native settlement on San Francisco Bay. He did it by leading more than 200 men, women, and children from Mexico to the Bay Area. During the next three months, you can hike a short, four-mile stretch of the trail in Arizona and have a shuttle ready to take you back to your rig.

Conservation Work Underway At Church In Tumacácori National Historical Park

Tumacácori National Historical Park in Arizona is hosting a summer field team from the University of Pennsylvania to continue work on the conservation of original plasters and painted finishes inside the San José de Tumacácori Mission church. The work is a five-year collaborative project, now in its second year.

Visit Tumacácori National Historical Park For A Full Moon Photo Workshop

The historic mission grounds at Tumacácori National Historical Park will be open under the light of a full moon on the evening of Wednesday, October 8. The park will be open as usual from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., reopening from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for visitors to enjoy the evening on the peaceful mission grounds.
