LATimes: Don't Trash the Parks

Share

Published Date

November 3, 2005

Add the left coast Times to the choir of those telling the Interior Department to reject calls to weaken the existing protections for the national park system.
In an editorial today the paper points out, quite correctly, that "surveys have shown that Americans treasure their national parks and forests and want them protected. Demands for weakening federal protection of the land come not from the public but from industry."
I have yet to see any editorial calling for the existing national park regulations to be relaxed. If anyone else has, please let me know.
