Ken Burns, the man who gave you a closer look at the Civil War, jazz, and baseball, just to name a few of his topics, is turning his cameras on the national parks.
"America's Best Idea: Our National Parks" is scheduled to be released in 2009. Burns, who already has visited more than 20 parks with his cameras, hopes to travel to 40 or 50 parks before returning to the editing room.
Burns' finished product should be a collector's item for park lovers. He's well-known for his biographies and historical documentaries. To borrow a snippet from his biography at the Internet Movie Database, "Burns' works are treasure troves of archival materials; he skillfully utilizes period music and footage, photographs, periodicals, and ordinary people's correspondence" to provide depth to his productions.
