It's been just about five months since last November's massive storm pummeled Mount Rainier. Well, much has been accomplished on the ground in the park since then, and the Park Service says Rainier's Nisqually Entrance Road will open for the spring season on May 1 as planned.
And when the visitors flock in, you can bet they'll find an interesting landscape.
Floods destroyed bridges in many places -- on roads and trails --
and more damage is expected to be found when the snow melts from the
high country. Large landslides block roads and trails, and blown-down
trees are scattered across many trails, explains a story in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.
