If your schedule is flexible, you might want to take a look at these lodging deals at Yosemite, Olympic, and Mesa Verde national parks.
At Yosemite, the current deals (and who knows how long they'll last) offer Curry Village cabins, without a bath, starting at $59 a night. If you've always wanted to stay at The Ahwahnee, now might be your best chance, as "classic" and "cottage" rooms in the stately hotel are priced starting at $264 a night. In between those rates are $99 rooms at Yosemite Lodge at the Falls and $139 rooms at the Wawona Hotel. To book online, go to this site.
In Olympic National Park the Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort, which opens for the season on March 28, is offering its "Spring into Springs" package. This package starts at $188 a night and includes "a standard cabin, pool passes for the family, breakfast and box lunches, and a pool toy for a family of four. The package represents a savings of $55 off regular rates, a 23 percent savings and is available March 28 through May 22, 2008."
Of course, this deal has a few footnotes attached: Please note that the “Spring into Springs” package is valid for new reservations only. The charge for extra guests is $22. Inventory is limited and some blackout dates may apply. Rates are based on double occupancy; additional people and pet fees apply.
Nevertheless, to check on availability, call 1-866-4SOLDUC (476-5382) or visit this site.
Over at Mesa Verde, the concessionaire is offering its "Family Fun" package for stays anytime between May 3 and October 21. For $529 a family of four -- two adults and two children age 11 or younger -- can stay two nights in a standard room at the Far View Lodge located inside the park, take part in the hot buffet breakfast at the lodge restaurant, and take a half day ranger-guided tour with a stop at the well-known Cliff Palace. The package also comes with an activity pack complete with playing cards and games and tickets for a ranger-led hike to Balcony House and a scenic ride on the historic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
The fine print: If you have children older than 11 there is an additional charge of $149 for each child 12 and older. If you have more than two children 11 or younger, there is an additional $70 charge for those age 5 to 11. Additional nights in the lodge run $116 per night.

Great article! I thought I'd mention, another great Mesa Verde lodging special that is going on right now is called the "Family Value Package" it is good for 2 adults and 2 kids (11 & under) with standard or Kiva room accommodations for 2 nights and it includes: a breakfast buffet both mornings for the entire family, a half day ranger guided tour of Mesa Verde's ancient sites, and a complimentary dinner for 2 children for 2 nights for less than $340 -- what a steal!
