Yesterday’s Mystery Photo quiz featured Double Arch, an Arches National Park favorite that has appeared in several movies. Another Arches attraction, Delicate Arch, has also made a cameo appearance. Here’s how to learn more about natural arches in movies.

The Natural Arch and Bridge Society, an NGO that supports “the study, appreciation, and preservation of natural arches and bridges, has compiled a wonderful list of natural arches and bridges that have made cameo appearances in movies. The list, which is nicely illustrated and packed with interesting information, is not confined to national park arches, nor even to America. However, it makes for fascinating reading, and we heartily commend it to your attention.

Be warned that Hollywood, which has never hesitated to play fast and loose with the facts, generates or manipulates arch images as it deems appropriate. It's amazing what computer software can do.

Do you know of a cameo appearance by a national park arch that’s not listed yet? If so, the Natural Arch and Bridge Society would love to hear about it, and so would Traveler.
