As some folks have noticed, there have been some power outages with the Traveler this week.
Long story short, the down periods are somewhat similar to those experienced back in April, when surging traffic overwhelmed the server we were on then. As you might recall, we moved to a new, dedicated server with much, much more room. While there's more than enough room on this server, at times this week traffic loads have been stressing the memory limits.
We've been assured, however, that this problem can be solved with a few tweaks to the server's settings, and our technical staff has been working to fine-tune things. Rest assured that we'll resolve this issue as soon as possible. In fact, it might already have been solved, as we've been running smoothly since yesterday.
As for the release of Internet Explorer 8, that's created some display issues that are a tad more tricky to resolve. We're also working on that and soon hope to have a fix. For those of you with IE8, all the content is there when you arrive at the Traveler; you simply have to scroll down your screen to find the daily news feeds.

Are you also going to fix the display problems with Firefox?
Ummm, what problems are those? I run the latest FF and haven't noticed any problems.
With regard to IE8 I found that Microsoft has added a new button called “Compatibility View: websites designed for older Browsers will probably look better, and problems such as out of place menus, images and out of place text will be corrected”. It’s located next to the refresh button on the address bar. (it looks sort of like a page torn in half) ;-))

No more scrolling for this caveman to find 'Latest News & Views'. Thanks Doc!
The web site traffic problem - that's a good problem to have!
The problem with IE8 is easy; just don't download the darned thing (and watch out for it in automatic Windows Updates). Why is it in recent years that every time Microsoft makes a move, we cringe? Too many darned doodads!
