Happy Birthday National Park Service!

Published Date

August 25, 2009

For trivia buffs, today, the 25th of August, marks the 93rd birthday of the National Park Service. I wonder if they're having cake and ice cream around the National Park System?

Only seven more years to go until the agency marks its centennial. Has the "Centennial Challenge" of the Bush administration been replaced by the "American Recovery and Reinvestment Act," aka the economic stimulus, by the Obama administration?

We'll just have to wait to see whether these combined efforts adequately prepare the parks for the celebration around the Park Service's 100th birthday.
