A search was under way Friday evening for a woman seen falling into Virginia Creek in Glacier National Park.
Witnesses told rangers they saw the woman fall into the water shortly after 1 p.m. and get washed down the creek, which is near the head of St. Mary Lake on the eastern side of the park.
Glacier officials said about 20 park staff were at the scene Friday, and that help had been requested from Flathead County Search and Rescue and Minuteman Aviation. NPS personnel have been searching both banks of Virginia Creek. A helicopter crew was to conduct an aerial search.
