Rooms in the west wing at the Yavapai Lodge on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon recently got some renovations. Xanterra Parks & Resorts photo.

We recently mentioned the renovations that Xanterra Parks & Resorts made to the Western cabins at Zion National Park. Now the concessionaire has wrapped up similar work to rooms at the Yavapai Lodge in Grand Canyon National Park.

The upgrading to the 160 rooms on the lodge's west wing covered new paint, carpet, beds, draperies, linens, bedspreads, flat-screen televisions, lighting, and furniture.

Located a half-mile from the canyon's South Rim, Yavapai Lodge is the park's largest facility with 358 rooms.

“Yavapai Lodge has always been popular with families,” said Jon Streit, general manager of Xanterra South Rim. “The rates are very reasonable, and the upgrades make it an even more attractive overnight stay.”

Yavapai West’s 160 rooms include two queen beds, vaulted ceilings with ceiling fans, coffeemakers and refrigerators. Rates are $107 per night for single or double occupancy. Extra persons are $9. Children 16 and under may stay with their parents at no charge. Rates do not include tax.

Yavapai East offers 198 rooms with in-room air conditioning, coffee makers and refrigerator. Most rooms offer two queen beds. Some rooms with one king bed are also available. All rooms have televisions and telephones.

Thanks for posting, especially the photo. The upgrades look great!

Our family is beginning to plan a trip to the Grand Canyon. Thanks for this post. We just booked into Yavapai Lodge and were a bit disappointed that Bright Star was unavailable. Your post has put our mind to easy. Looks like a great room at a reasonable price.
