Living history players will soon take visitors back to 1901 for a maritime Christmas celebration on the San Francisco waterfront. San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, a component of Golden Gate National recreation Area, is located at the Hyde Street Pier at the west end of Fisherman’s Wharf, one of the Bay Area's top tourist attractions. There this popular park entertains and educates visitors with a magnificent fleet of six National Historic Landmark ships, a world-class maritime museum, a library/research facility, and an Aquatic Park Historic District that includes a sandy beach (one of the cleanest in the area), a bathhouse, a municipal pier, restrooms, a concessions stand, stadia, and two speaker towers.

Special events at San Francisco Maritime are, well, very special. Take, for example, the Christmas celebration they've got planned for this holiday season. Starting at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, living history players will present the park's annual Old Time Maritime Christmas, an event that turns the clock back to Christmas in 1901.

It will be a memorable holiday experience. The program features lamplit guided tours leaving every 20 minutes until 8:00 p.m. With the lights of San Francisco twinkling in the background, visitors will get to meet and talk with captains, wives, and crews aboard the historic vessels at Hyde Street Pier.

For additional information, call 415-447-5000 or visit the park’s website.
