Man's Body Found Floating In Colorado River At Grand Canyon National Park

An unidentified man's body has been found floating in the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park, according to park officials.

The body was discovered at river mile 21 early Wednesday afternoon, a park release said.

Park rangers were flown to the site via helicopter and prepared the body for transport out of the canyon, but had to wait until Thursday afternoon to remove the body due to the lateness of the day.

After being taken via a long-line operation (suspended below a helicopter) to the Cliff Dweller’s Air Strip near Highway 89A, north of the canyon, the body was transported to the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s office in Flagstaff, Arizona for autopsy and identification, the release added.

Grand Canyon National Park and Coconino County Sheriff’s Office investigators are jointly conducting an investigation into this incident.
