Do the high-desert landscapes of Arches and Canyonlands national parks, and those of Natural Bridges and Hovenweep national monuments ignite your artistic side? Apply for an "Artist in the Park" fellowship. Kurt Repanshek photos.

If you've got some artistic flare, and a desire to spend some time in the high desert of southeastern Utah, now is the time to get your application in for the 2011 Community Artist in the Parks Program.

The Community Artist in the Parks program was created in 2009 as a way to highlight the connection between local artists and the landscapes contained within the National Park Service Southeast Utah Group. Within that group you'll find Arches and Canyonlands national parks as well as Hovenweep and Natural Bridges national monuments.

The program gives visitors from across the globe an opportunity to see first-hand the results of artistic inspiration from wild nature. It provides artists an ability to teach and demonstrate their medium and passion for creative expression.

The 2011 term will begin April 1st and end November 19th. Applications must be received by February 12, 2011.
