Former President George W. Bush To Help Dedicate Flight 93 National Memorial

Former President George W. Bush will be on hand Saturday to help dedicate the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

Joining the former president will be Vice President Joe Biden, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis. The dignitaries will join Flight 93 family members and friends, special guests, former First Lady Laura Bush, and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, among others.

Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan will perform at the ceremony, which is scheduled to start at 12:30 p.m. EDT.

The Flight 93 Memorial dedication event will pay tribute to the lives of those who died on September 11, 2001, while trying to avert a terrorist attack on Washington, D.C. The ceremony also will pay homage to  all victims of terrorism, including those who have been targeted by al Qaeda and other groups around the globe.

Through a partnership between National Park Foundation and HISTORY, the dedication will be broadcast LIVE beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET/ 9:30 a.m. PT on www.Flight93Dedication.org and at www.history.com/flight93

In addition to the dedication ceremony, the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks will be observed at the Flight 93 National Memorial on the morning of September 11 beginning at approximately 9:30 a.m. EDT.

The memorial service will take place at the newly-opened memorial plaza surrounding the site where Flight 93 crashed at 10:03 a.m. on September 11, 2001.
