"Virga," by Chase Schiefer, is one of the photographs to be displayed in an exhibit in honor of Shenandoah National Park's 75th anniversary.

Shenandoah National Park displays so many different moods throughout the year, that it's hard to capture them all. A photographic exhibition that opens Thursday in Orange, Virginia, promises to display many of the park's moods.

Simply titled, Oh, Shenandoah!, the exhibit will be held at the Arts Center in Orange. The exhibit brings together winning photographs from concurrent  contests around Virginia that were held during the spring and summer of 2011 in celebration of Shenandoah National Park’s 75th anniversary.

Categories include Views into the Park, Views from the Park, and Views within the Park. Awards were bestowed in adult and youth age groups. Oh, Shenandoah! is hosted by Shenandoah National Park Trust, the official “friends” group of Shenandoah National Park with support from Grelen Nursery, Inc., Southern States Orange-Madison Cooperative, Virginia National Bank and the Virginia Commission for the Arts.

A reception is scheduled for 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Thursday at the Art Center. The exhibit will be on display through February 25.

Support National Parks Traveler

Your support for the National Parks Traveler comes at a time when news organizations are finding it hard, if not impossible, to stay in business. Traveler's work is vital. For nearly two decades we've provided essential coverage of national parks and protected areas. With the Trump administration’s determination to downsize the federal government, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s approach to public lands focused on energy exploration, it’s clear the Traveler will have much to cover in the months and years ahead. We know of no other news organization that provides such broad coverage of national parks and protected areas on a daily basis. Your support is greatly appreciated.

I love Shenandoah National Park. One of my favourite times on the Appalachian Trail is when you have to hike through this great place

What an awesome shot by Chase Schiefer. One of my favorite memories from Shenandoah was a similar situation. I was standing on the summit of Hawksbill on cool late summer day looking north to Stony Man with an isolated rainstorm immediately below. The cloud clung under the peak with silver curtains of showers falling into the watershed of East Hawksbill Creek. The little burg of Ida, the Shenandoah Valley, and virtually everything else was crystal clear. So typically spectacular of Shenandoah.
