A reward fund has been established for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the poaching of two bull elk at Wind Cave National Park.
Since the slain bulls were found Tuesday, the park has received numerous calls with information, and rangers are following up on tips received from the public.
People wishing to contribute to the reward fund can do so at any Black Hills Federal Credit Union. The nonprofit group The Friends of Wind Cave National Park has established the “Wind Cave’s Elk Reward Fund” to accept donations.
“We are very thankful for the strong public support we are receiving to help solve this case,” said park superintendent Vidal Davila. “We value the public interest in this matter, and we are eager to bring whoever did this to justice.”
Rangers are working with South Dakota Game, Fish and Park Conservation Officers and local county law enforcement agencies on this case. Anyone with information concerning this or other poaching cases are encouraged to call the Turn in Poachers (TIP) line at 888-683-7224 with information.
Callers can choose to remain anonymous.
