Cannon Fire Will Roar Across Fort Pulaski National Monument This Summer

Want to get a feel for the sound and fury of cannon fire? Plan to stop by Fort Pulaski National Monument in Georgia on a weekend this summer when cannon firings will occur.

Starting Sunday, June 10, the monument staff will offer cannon firings on both Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer. Cannon firings will be offered three times daily on the weekends (staff permitting).

Weekend Program Schedule

10 a.m. Guided Fort Tour

11 a.m. Cannon Firing

12 p.m. Musket Firing

1 p.m. Cannon Firing

1:30 p.m. Guided Fort Tour

2:30 p.m. Musket Firing

3 p.m. Cannon Firing

4 p.m. Guided Fort Tour

5 p.m. Musket Firing

Fort Pulaski National Monument has one of the most active historic weapons programs in the United States. The park also features the nation's largest fully functional reproduction cannon. Historic weapons demonstrations follow historic guidelines and portray uniforms and equipment of the Civil War.

Fort Pulaski National Monument has been offering extended summer hours since Memorial Day weekend.

Summer hours are as follows:

Visitor Center 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Fort 9 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

The park grounds close at 6:45 p.m.

Fort Pulaski National Monument is on U.S. Hwy 80, 15 miles east of Savannah. An entrance fee of $5 per person is charged; ages 15 and under are free. Call the park at (912) 786-5787 for details.

I was wondering what are the hours for Ft Pulaski during the weekend of Oct 20th? Do you still fire cannons in the fall? Thank you
