The National Park Service will soon issue a prospectus for the major concession contract in Glacier National Park. The prospectus will cover lodging, retail, transportation, and food & beverage services currently operated by Glacier Park, Inc.

Lodging facilities included in the prospectus are Village Inn and Lake McDonald Lodge on the western side of the park, Rising Sun Motor Inn on Going-to-the-Sun Road, and Swiftcurrent Motor Inn and Many Glacier Hotel in the park’s interior. The contract will also cover the Two Medicine Campstore.

Glacier Park Lodge and Prince of Wales Hotel are both owned by Glacier Park, Inc. and not included in the concession prospectus. GPI also owns Grouse Mountain Lodge in nearby Whitefish, and St. Mary Lodge in St. Mary. Both these properties are outside the park.

NPS has scheduled a two-day site visit on September 19 and 20 for prospective bidders to inspect the facilities. The visit will commence at Village Inn and end the following evening at Two Medicine Campstore.

Pre-registration for participation is required by September 14, and can be made by calling concession specialist Jan Knox at (406) 888-7908. Participants are responsible for their own food and lodging expenses during the visit.

Many Glacier Hotel and Glacier Park Lodge will still be open during the scheduled dates for the visit, but Village Inn, Rising Sun Motor Inn, and Swiftcurrent Motor Inn will all be closed. Logan Pass on the Going to the Sun Road is expected to be closed to vehicle traffic by the time of the scheduled visit.
