An upcoming one-day scientific conference at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore will offer the public a chance to learn more about one of the most biologically diverse national parks in the country.

The conference, "Linking Research to Management at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in a Rapidly Changing Environment," will be held on Wednesday, November 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Berglund Auditorium at Indiana University Northwest in Gary, Indiana.

For more than 100 years, scientists have been conducting research in the Indiana Dunes. This tradition and history of research continues in Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore, where dozens of ongoing research projects are ongoing at any given time. This conference is a chance for scientists and the public to learn and share the information gathered.

The conference is co-sponsored by the National Park Service, Indiana University Northwest, The Field Museum of Natural History, and the United States Geological Survey. It will highlight previous and ongoing research on biodiversity, aquatic ecosystems, invasive species, and restoration in the region as well as in the national park.

Applications to natural resource best management practices will be discussed. The conference is free of charge and interested persons can register at the door or online at this site. Registrants will receive a link to an online set of conference abstracts and other information. Lunch is not provided, but can be purchased in the university cafeteria.

For more information, call Joy Marburger, 219-395-1544 or Pete Avis, 219-980-6717.
