The Fourth of July and the reopening of the Statue of Liberty are still more than a month off, but that doesn't mean you can't buy a ticket for that event now.

Tickets are available online at this site or by calling (201) 604-2800. Crown tickets are only available by reservation. At this time, visitors may reserve advance tickets for travel from July 4 through September 2.

"We are delighted that Lady Liberty will once again be open to the public. We look forward to providing a safe and enjoyable experience to all of our visitors," said Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island Superintendent David Luchsinger. "We appreciate the extraordinary efforts of all of those who are working diligently to re-open the park."

Starting July 4th, visitors will once again have access to Liberty Island, including the grounds, pedestal, the statue, and limited areas on Ellis Island. Further details about Ellis Island will be available in the coming weeks.

At the preliminary screening on Ellis Island, and at secondary screening for those entering the monument on Liberty Island, visitors will be screened using modern screening and detection technology. This new system on Ellis Island replaces the facilities at Liberty State Park, N.J., and Battery Park, N.Y, that were destroyed during Hurricane Sandy.

The National Park Service will have additional security measures in place at Battery Park, Liberty State Park and on board the ferries themselves. Though specific details of security programs are not made public, these measures include a coordinated and integrated combination of law enforcement, security personnel, and technology.

"As many know, the devastation wrought by Hurricane Sandy crippled our operations for the past eight months. With the emergency funds provided by Congress, work can now be completed to repair and replace of the docks on Liberty Island, several interior spaces of park structures, security screening facilities, and other equipment needed for safe operations and a memorable experience," said Superintendent Luchsinger.

Until July 4th, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty will be closed to the public while NPS staff and contractors prepare for the reopening.

Updated information on the Statue of Liberty National Monument and Ellis Island will be available on the park's website and via Facebook.

Support National Parks Traveler

Your support for the National Parks Traveler comes at a time when news organizations are finding it hard, if not impossible, to stay in business. Traveler's work is vital. For nearly two decades we've provided essential coverage of national parks and protected areas. With the Trump administration’s determination to downsize the federal government, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s approach to public lands focused on energy exploration, it’s clear the Traveler will have much to cover in the months and years ahead. We know of no other news organization that provides such broad coverage of national parks and protected areas on a daily basis. Your support is greatly appreciated.
