Find yourself near Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota during Presidents Day Weekend and you should drop in to take a free cave tour.
The tours will be offered February 15-17 through the Garden of Eden section. They'll head out from the park's visitor center at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Visitors will walk along the Garden of Eden Tour route and view boxwork formations for which the cave is famous. This 1/4-mile tour is moderately strenuous with approximately 150 steps and lasts one hour.
“It’s a nice opportunity to see a local attraction while getting out of the cold. It’s 53 degrees year around in the cave,” said Vidal Davila, park superintendent. “We recommend sturdy walking shoes and a light coat or sweater.”
Tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. All tours begin at the visitor center located a half-mile off US Highway 385.
