Four decades ago, on April 8, 1975, Voyageurs National Park was established as the country's 36th national park. This April, the nation celebrates Voyageurs'™ 40th birthday.  2015 also marks the 50th anniversary of Voyageurs'™ founding nonprofit partner, Voyageurs National Park Association. Together, the park and its partner will celebrate this anniversary and thank their many visitors, supporters, partners, and volunteers with a full year of special events.

Here's a schedule of upcoming events celebrating the birthdays:

April 18-19: Opening weekend of National Park Week.

April 19: Voyageurs National Park Day at the Minnesota Twins Target Field.

Come cheer the Twins to victory and help us celebrate Voyageurs'™ 40th birthday. For each ticket sold through voyageurs.org/tickets, $4 will be donated back to Voyageurs National Park Association.

April 24-26: Visit the Voyageurs booth at Midwest Mountaineering'™s Outdoor Adventure Expo. On April 24, Park Ranger Lisa Maass will give a special presentation, An Insider'™s Guide to Voyageurs.

June 6: Volunteer Trail Cleanup Day at Voyageurs.

All ages and abilities welcome. It'™s a great opportunity to make new friends, and give back to the park you love. Registration available at voyageurs.org/2015.

Support National Parks Traveler

Your support for the National Parks Traveler comes at a time when news organizations are finding it hard, if not impossible, to stay in business. Traveler's work is vital. For nearly two decades we've provided essential coverage of national parks and protected areas. With the Trump administration’s determination to downsize the federal government, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s approach to public lands focused on energy exploration, it’s clear the Traveler will have much to cover in the months and years ahead. We know of no other news organization that provides such broad coverage of national parks and protected areas on a daily basis. Your support is greatly appreciated.
