Special Events Planned For This Summer At Fort Laramie National Historic Site

The summer season kicks off at Fort Laramie National Historic Site in Wyoming next Monday.

Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of Fort Laramie National Historic Site'™s summer season, which will feature a variety of activities, from daily guided tours and talks to living history demonstrations and special events.

The park in eastern Wyoming begins its summer hours on May 25. The historic grounds and buildings will be open from dawn to dusk each day. The visitor center will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The extended hours of operation will continue through Labor Day.

A full schedule of special events is planned for this summer, including:

* June 20 & 21 Fur Trade Fort Laramie event

* July 4 Annual Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration

* July 11 Hank Cramer Folk Music Concert

* July 18 Star Gazing and 'œBats at the Fort' Natural History Programs

* August 19 Annual Moonlight Tour

Admission to the park and all events is free, so bring out the family, visit Fort Laramie National Historic Site this summer and 'œFind your Park." If you would like more information regarding the programs and activities at Fort Laramie, contact the staff at 307-837-2221.
