A search was underway Wednesday on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon National Park for a missing river guide.

Park officials said they received word on Tuesday about 8 p.m. via satellite phone that a commercial river trip was missing a guide at River Mile 213 near Pumpkin Springs.

Morgan Heimer of Cody, Wyoming, was reported missing following a hike, a park release said. Heimer was described as 22 years old, standing 6 feet tall, with blond hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored Astral personal flotation device, a blue plaid long sleeve shirt, a pair of Chaco sandals, a maroon baseball cap, and brightly colored shorts, the park reported.

The guide was also carrying a purple water bottle with him when he was last seen. Heimer is working as a guide for Tour West and the group was on day six of an eight-day trip when Heimer went missing.

Any one with information on the location of Morgan Heimer should contact NPS Tip Line at 928-638-7840.
