On the road, in Shenandoah National Park/NPS

If you can't stop by the visitor center at Shenandoah National Park, perhaps it can come to you.

That's a possibility now that the park has a "Mobile Visitor Center" that will serve to provide visitors with information in the South District of Shenandoah. The Mobile Visitor Center will supplement the services that are already available at the park’s two visitor centers - Dickey Ridge Visitor Center (mile 4.6 on Skyline Drive) and the Byrd Visitor Center (mile 51). Look for the colorful Sprinter van along Skyline Drive to find helpful rangers waiting to share trip-planning advice, answer park questions, and provide park maps, brochures, and other information.

“We are excited to offer this innovative approach to providing information to visitors in the south end of the park,” says Superintendent, Jim Northup.

The Mobile Visitor Center will frequently be stationed at Beagle Gap (mile 99.5) to be readily available to visitors arriving through Rockfish Gap Entrance Station, but may be found in other South District locations as well. Hours and locations will vary depending on the day, weather, and park visitation.
