Grotto Trail At Zion National Park To Close For Two Weeks

Published Date

November 15, 2015

Work at Zion National Park in Utah to replace a water main pipe will require closure of the Grotto Trail between Zion Lodge and the trailhead for two weeks.

The work is scheduled to start Monday. As a result, the half-mile stretch of trail will be closed to all pedestrians and hikers. The Grotto Trail is expected to fully reopen on Saturday, November 28. This closure will not affect hikers accessing the Emerald Pools trails or the West Rim trail to Angel's Landing.

The Grotto Trail was designed by landscape architect Harry Langley in 1932, and was constructed using only hand tools. In 1987, the Grotto Trail was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
