The national headquarters for the Lewis and Clark Trail has finalized its Second Saturday Speaker Series. The headquarters is located at the National Park Service's Midwest Regional Office in Omaha, Nebraska. The regional office is unusual in that it also serves as home to a visitor center dedicated to the Lewis and Clark Trail.

The Second Saturday Speaker Series for 2016 will include the following speakers and subjects:

* June 11 – Renae M. Hunt will present “Stories of Sacajewea, Pomp, and Seaman.”

* July 9th – Brad Tennant will discuss “Wildlife and Lewis & Clark in South Dakota.”

* August 13th – Hasan Davis will perform a York impersonation.

* September 10th – Matt Jones will discuss “Lewis & Clark's First Council with Otoe and Missouria Indians.”

The Omaha unit visitor center has a wide range of pamphlets and brochures for individuals who are interested in following the path of the Corps of Discovery. It also offers an excellent 25-minute Lewis & Clark Expedition film narrated by Ken Burns. The visitor center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. It opens an hour later on Saturday and Sunday.
