In celebration of the Centennial of the National Park Service, an art exhibition by southern Arizona students is on display at the Joel D. Valdez Main Library in downtown Tucson.
Sponsored by Friends of Saguaro, the exhibition features 45 works of art -- each representing the landscapes, wildlife, and cultural resources of Saguaro National Park.
The above piece, from Daisy at Sky Island High School in Tucson, is entitled "Scorpion at Sunset," with the artist noting, "This painting is about the special time of day around sunset when the vegetation and the creatures are illuminated by the pastel hues."
The exhibition runs until July 31, and all 45 works can be viewed here. Just hover your cursor at the bottom of each work to identify the school of the artist; clicking on a specific work will bring you more detailed information about the piece and the artist.
