Motorcyclists riding into Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks now must each pay $25, up $5 from last year. The change completes the rollout of entrance fee increases at the California parks that began in 2015. No other fees were changed this year.
“Entrance fees have supported many of the projects in the parks that enhance our visitor experience. This includes maintaining trails, installing exhibits in visitor centers, and even providing free shuttle busses in the parks that alleviate congestion during peak periods,” Christy Brigham, acting superintendent for Sequoia and Kings Canyon, said in a release.
The phasing in of motorcycle fee increases was done in response to comments from motorcycle users during public scoping in 2014. Based on their input, park management split the increase for motorcyclists between 2016 and 2017. All other fee increases went into effect last year.
