Enjoy your visit to Isle Royale National Park with an excursion upon the Ranger III this summer/NPS

You're invited to join Isle Royale National Park aboard the Ranger III for summer Keweenaw Waterway Cruises.

Scheduled cruises are:

  • Thursday, July 13
  • Thursday, July 20
  • Thursday, August 10
  • Thursday, August 24

All cruises depart at 12:30 p.m. from the Houghton Visitor Center. Passengers must arrive by noon for check-in. Cruises last 2.5 to 3 hours and will travel south along the Keweenaw Waterway to the South Entry, venturing a short distance into Keweenaw Bay if conditions are pleasant, before returning to Houghton. Refreshments will be available at the Ranger III Grill, and passengers should bring a light jacket to protect against wind and chill.

New for 2017, during the first half of the voyage, a park ranger will present a tour of the waterway, its history, geology, and connection to Isle Royale.

Due to popularity, advance reservations are recommended. Reservations can be made Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. by calling 906-482-0984 or visiting the Houghton Visitor Center. Ticket prices are $20 for adults, $5 for youth (age 1-15), and infants under 1 receive a free ticket. The 165-foot Ranger III, piloted by Captain Rand Attaway with a crew of nine, can carry up to 128 passengers.
