Summer brings not only crowds to Yellowstone National Park, but also road work, and that means visitors should prepare to encounter delays in some areas of the park.
Currently, there are plans to begin nightly closures from Norris to Golden Gate near Mammoth Hot Springs on Sunday, June 11, at 10 p.m.
- Nightly closures are scheduled to be in effect from June 11-September 10.
- This segment of road will be closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Closure barricades are located at Roaring Mountain and Willow Park/Moose Exhibit restroom pullout.
- Norris and Indian Creek campgrounds will be open.
- The road will remain open overnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
This segment of road will be closed to all travel September 10 through October 6. On top of the nightly closures, park officials say you can expect up to 30-minute delays between Norris and Golden Gate anytime the road is open to the public.
Road information can be found on the park website at go.nps.gov/YellRoads. The map on that page will be updated as conditions change.
