Mesquite Springs Campground at Death Valley National Park has reopened to campers/NPS

After several months of closure due to storm damage, the Mesquite Springs Campground in Death Valley National Park has again opened for public use.

The access road was damaged due to flooding in July 2017.  As repair work was being completed, a strange “microburst” storm with strong winds on September 11 tore part of the roof off of a restroom. Those repairs have been completed, and all sites and facilities are now open at the campground.

Mesquite Springs Campground is noteworthy in that it affords the best night sky viewing of all the developed campgrounds in Death Valley and is often used by astronomy clubs.
