We all could use a little help these days. National parks need help, and the groups that support them need help, too. That's why we hope you'll support the park friends groups that help us keep the Traveler alive. And today and tomorrow we especially need you to support Friends of Acadia.

As we mentioned early this week, Friends of Acadia is conducting a fund-raising campaign just this week. If they can raise $15,000 in donations by Friday night, a donor will match that with another $15,000, and so giving Friends of Acadia $30,000 to invest in that Atlantic jewel of the National Park System. As of Wednesday night, they were about $2,000 shy of that goal, and time is running out. They need to reach $15,000 by Friday, so please chip in if you can. You can donate at this site.

We also want to give a shout out to five other friends groups and educational organizations we work with:

* Friends of Saguaro National Park

* The Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation

* Grand Teton National Park Foundation

* North Cascades Institute

* Washington's National Park Fund

Friends of Saguaro works hard to bring the next generation of park stewards and advocates into the park system, working with youth in the Tuscon area.

The Blue Ridge Parkway has been working especially hard recently to raise millions of dollars to restore Flat Top Manor at Moses Cone Memorial Park.

The Grand Teton National Park Foundation also is working on restoring and preserving historic structures in that park, while the North Cascades Institute has numerous programs for youth, families, and graduate students that are presented against the backdrop of North Cascades National Park.

Washington's National Park Fund in particular does yeoman's duty, working to support not one but three national parks: Olympic, Mount Rainier, and North Cascades.

Your support for the National Parks Traveler comes at a time when news organizations are finding it hard, if not impossible, to stay in business. Traveler's work is vital. For nearly two decades we've provided essential coverage of national parks and protected areas. With the Trump administration’s determination to downsize the federal government, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s approach to public lands focused on energy exploration, it’s clear the Traveler will have much to cover in the months and years ahead. We know of no other news organization that provides such broad coverage of national parks and protected areas on a daily basis.
