An Iowa man who was said to want to become a park ranger fell about 500 feet to his death in Canyonlands National Park in Utah.
Jonathon Hogue, 33, from Iowa City, was reported missing last Tuesday. His body was found at the bottom of the Green River Overlook in the park's Island in the Sky District.
The man was known to hike long distances, including going off trail, according to the National Park Service. He was a PhD student.
The San Juan County (Utah) Sheriff's Office was continuing an investigation into the matter.
