The National Park Service has begun draining the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool in Washington, D.C., so it can repair a broken water line that has affected the water quality of the pool this spring. While it is empty, the pool will also be cleaned. The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool should be refilled and operational again by the week of June 16.

The problem with the water line has compromised the circulation system in the pool, leading to issues with the water quality, including the growth of algae and a noticeable green tint to the water.

It will take approximately five to six days for the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting pool to fully drain, at which time crews will begin repairs and cleaning the pool bottom utilizing skid steers, pumper and water trucks, and a sprayer. Repairs and cleaning are expected to last a week, at which time the refilling process will begin.

Wasn't this problem fixed in 2009-10 as part of the Recovery Act?  Director Jarvis even did one of his Director's chats from there highlighting the work.

Better get it looking spiffy for the 4th of July Spectacular and the invasion of the MAGA hats!!!
