The National Parks of Lake Superior Foundation has released its refreshed brand and website. Under the "Five national parks. One superior lake." tagline, the foundation strives to raise awareness of, and support for, the five national parks anchored on the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

“The five national parks of Lake Superior are public treasures,” said Sona Mehring, NPLSF board chair. “We are excited to bring this refreshed look in hopes of sharing our story more broadly.”

NPLSF exists to provide financial support for the projects and programs that preserve the natural resources and cultural heritage of the parks: Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Isle Royale National Park, Grand Portage National Monument, and Keweenaw National Historical Park.

One of the featured initiatives of NPLSF has been the wolf and moose project at Isle Royale, which has involved the recovery of a wolf population to help balance the fragile ecosystem.

“Lake Superior is the greatest of our Great Lakes,” said Kim Schneider, the group's executive director. “It’s our passion to ensure that our parks and historic sites are maintained for the enjoyment of visitors today, and for generations to come.”

The organization has scheduled a free event for November 21 in Minnesapolis to discuss the wolf relocation program at Isle Royale. Just-retired Isle Royale Superintendent Phyllis Green will be on hand to discuss the relocation program, and Isle Royale Artist-in-Residence musician David Huckfelt will provide music. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Hook and Ladder Theater and Lounge in Minneapolis.

NPLSF is the only official 501(c)(3) non-profit partner of the National Park Service for all five national park sites on Lake Superior. All NPLSF projects and programs are supported through grants and private donations. NPLSF is governed by a nine-person Board of Directors.
