More Than 100 Traveler Supporters And Counting...

Share

After the first month of National Parks Traveler's year-end campaign to help fund our 2021 operations, more than 100 individuals have reached out with support. It has been a gratifying response at a time when more and more people are heading outdoors and into the parks and their interest in news coverage of national parks and protected areas is growing.

Growing might be an understatement. Readership this year has increased right around 30 percent, and there is no shortage of news to report on, whether it involves management decisions by the National Park Service and approaches to dealing with overcrowding in the parks or efforts to reduce conflicts between wildlife and humans and articles that point out how you can get the most out of your national park adventure.

One actually could break out coverage needs into editorial buckets: exploration of the parks, science in the parks, climate change impacts on the parks, wildlife, lodging, prospective national parks, diversity in the parks, park management, global parks, and more.

Your support makes coverage of these issues on a daily basis possible. Without your support, there would be no Traveler, so you rightfully should take some pride in making this news outlet possible.

There are less than four weeks to go in the national NewsMatch campaign to help nonprofit media organizations fund their operations. To all those who have contributed so far, thank you very much. It really does make a huge difference in what we can accomplish. Acknowledgments of your support are heading your way, either via email or snail mail.

For all those still considering a donation, know that your tax-deductible donation (The CARES Act makes it possible to deduct charitable donations again for most) goes right to work as we expand our coverage of national parks and protected areas. With your help, we can claim an $11,500 matching grant from the NewsMatch funders, and reach our year-end goal of raising $35,000.
