The body of a solo climber has been recovered in Grand Teton National Park/Rebecca Latson file

The body of a climber who died in Grand Teton National Park has been recovered by rangers, and an investigation into the accident is under way.

Few details of the incident were available. Rangers on Saturday received word from a climber ascending Teewinot Mountain that he spotted the body at the base of the Black Chimney climbing route. Rangers arrived to the scene and recovered the remains of the deceased man.

The deceased climber appears to have been climbing alone with the intent of ascending the East Face route based on the marked map found with him. Route finding is difficult in the area.

Details on the deceased were being withheld until next-of-kin notifications are completed.
