High Bridge marks the end of the route for the Stehekin shuttle bus. Disembarking the bus and crossing the bridge over the clear, cold, frothing water of Stehekin River takes you from Lake Chelan National Recreation Area into North Cascades National Park.

The dirt road beyond High Bridge leads two miles to the backcountry camps of High Bridge and Tumwater, and onward to many trails including the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.

Before crossing the bridge, you’ll notice the High Bridge Ranger Station built by the U.S. Forest Service, as well as other buildings and a corral constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933 – 1934.
