A wildfire in Tuzigoot National Monument in Arizona has led to the monument's closure while crews work to contain it.
The fire, roughly 100 acres in size, was spotted Sunday evening and was burning through marsh and grasslands areas of the national monument, which protects a thousand-year-old pueblo with 110 rooms.
Fire managers plan to continue the strategy of confinement and containment while providing for point protection of identified sensitive natural and cultural resources, a park release said. The release did not say the cause of the fire.
Tuzigoot National Monument is receiving interagency support from two type two suppression modules and local resources from Verde Valley Fire. Other resources assigned to the fire are six engines and a medic team.
