Parks Canada suspects a poacher has been active in Jasper National Park in October/Jennifer Bain
Parks Canada is investigating a suspected poaching in Jasper National Park in Alberta.
On Oct. 17, 2023, a visitor reported one bighorn sheep ram’s carcass found near Jasper Lake with the head removed. Parks Canada soon discovered a second headless ram’s carcass in the area and closed the area until further notice for public safety.
Parks Canada suspects a poaching offence occurred between 4 p.m. on Oct. 16 and 10 a.m. on Oct. 17. Its Law Enforcement Branch is asking for information that could lead to the identification of those responsible.

Any information about suspicious vehicles in the area or any information about two recently-removed bighead ram heads or horns.
