Coalition To Protect America's National Parks Relies On National Parks Traveler

In addition to the National Parks Traveler's audience of roughly 2.5 million readers and podcast listeners, there are more than a few organizations that turn to the Traveler to stay on top of news and issues from around the National Park System and involving the National Park Service.

The Coalition to Protect America's National Parks, a nonprofit organization that represents more than 2,500 current, former, and retired employees and volunteers of the National Park Service, is one such organization.

"I, like many others, read National Parks Traveler on a daily basis. It is an important part of my morning 'news fix,'” says Mike Murray, executive chair council for the Coalition. "During my ten years serving on the executive council of the Coalition to Protect America’s National Parks, I have relied upon the Traveler to stay current on news and information about a number of issues affecting our national parks and public lands.

"I appreciate that when Kurt and his staff take a look at controversial proposals or actions, they report on multiple points of view that help to illuminate the complexity of the issue. I cannot imagine a morning without reading the latest national park news from National Parks Traveler," said Murray.

With five days left in our year-end fundraiser, we hope you'll take a moment to reflect on what the Traveler has meant to you and consider a donation.

Your support goes directly to the news organization's operations. It helps cover IT costs, pay freelancers who bring you stories as wide-ranging as management of wolves at Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve and the cascading effects of climate change, including increasing rain events and rising seas, that are challenging cultural resource managers throughout the National Park System. Donations help cover phone bills, the behind-the-scenes cost of podcasts, travel expenses, and maintenance of the underlying architecture of the Traveler's website.

If you're undecided about supporting the Traveler, read our overview of outstanding and unique stories that we brought readers this year. After seeing those stories, ask yourself where else you might find similar coverage.

The Traveler is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit news organization. Our EIN is 26-2378789.

Support National Parks Traveler

Your support for the National Parks Traveler comes at a time when news organizations are finding it hard, if not impossible, to stay in business. Traveler's work is vital. For nearly two decades we've provided essential coverage of national parks and protected areas. With the Trump administration’s determination to downsize the federal government, and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum’s approach to public lands focused on energy exploration, it’s clear the Traveler will have much to cover in the months and years ahead. We know of no other news organization that provides such broad coverage of national parks and protected areas on a daily basis. Your support is greatly appreciated.
