A couple that entered an archaeological site at Canyonlands National Park, unaware that they were being filmed by a trail camera, is being sought in connection with theft from the site.

The camera captured a man and woman going past "closed area" signs to enter the Cave Spring Cowboy Camp in the Needles District of the park and removing "artifacts from a cabinet, and handl[ing] historic harnesses in a manner that had potential to damage them."

Law enforcement rangers on Wednesday released screen shots of the two taken from the camera footage.

"Law enforcement park rangers are asking the public for help. If you were in the area of Cave Spring Cowboy Camp at approximately 5:30 p.m. on March 23, 2024, or if you have information that could help identify the suspects, please contact investigators," the release said.
