The body of an Arizona woman who got caught by a flash flood in Grand Canyon National Park has been recovered.

A park release said the body of Chenoa Nickerson, 33, of Gilbert, Arizona, was found about 11:30 a.m. Sunday by a commercial river trip near river mile 176 in the Colorado River. She reportedly was with her husband when they were both caught by a flash flood that came down Havasu Canyon at river mile 157.3 last Thursday. While her husband was rescued, Nickerson was swept into the river.

Park rangers responded Sunday and recovered the body, which was transported to the rim by helicopter and transferred to the Coconino County Medical Examiner.

Nickerson was last seen approximately 100 yards above the confluence of Havasu Creek and the Colorado River. The National Park Service conducted a multi-day search and rescue operation.
