Author Kevin Fedarko appears on the National Parks Traveler's podcast Sunday to discuss his latest book, A Walk In The Park.
Of course, Fedarko's attempt to hike the length of Grand Canyon National Park was anything but a walk in the park. Author of the best-seller The Emerald Mile, Fedarko delves into many of the issues — development, too many people, overflights, water — along with providing primers on the canyon's geology and anthropology.
The walk Fedarko and his photographic sidekick, Pete McBride, took into the canyon didn’t initially go as planned. While Fedarko raised some serious blisters on his feet, McBride almost needed a medical evacuation from the backcountry.
Still, the hike, or rather hikes, generated a compelling book from Fedarko. And our conversation is just as compelling.
